| By Bob Arganbright Combat Handguns Augest 2003 Page 63 The third of this trio of holsters is the Tailgunner inside the pants concealment holster from High Noon Holsters. The Tailgunner is constructed of rough side out premium cowhide. The pouch has a synthetic front sight tunnel stitched securely in place, preventing front sight drag when the Colt .45 auto pistol is drawn. The top lip of the pouch is reinforced with a special synthetic insert to prevent it from collapsing after the pistol is removed, and easing one hand holstering of the handgun. Dual belt loops secure the holster inside the user's trousers and are secured with heavy-duty snap fasteners. The dual belt loops allow one to place the holster astride of a trouser's belt loop, preventing the holster from sliding fore and aft on the belt. The Tailgunner is also available in a clip on version. The pouch fully encloses the trigger guard, as on the other two holsters, and presents the gun butt for a full combat grip. The combination of an adjustable tension device and a wet molded fit provide adequate security with the open top holster. A perspiration guard protects the pistol from the wearer while providing additional comfort to the user. This guard is also molded to secure the thumb safety lever in the on-safe position.
But what about that name, the Tailgunner? This holster takes its name from the "tail" like extension from the bottom rear edge. This "tail" further secures the pouch inside one's trousers. Those wishing enhanced concealment for a large semi-auto pistol should check out High Noon Holsters unusual Tailgunner. |
